How It Works: The T-Shirt Quilt Process
Creating your custom t-shirt quilt is a simple and collaborative process. Here’s how we’ll bring your memories to life, one stitch at a time:
Step 1: Gather Your Shirts
Choose the t-shirts you want to include in your quilt — they can be from events, sports teams, school, concerts, vacations, or anything meaningful to you. Don’t worry if they’re well-loved — I’ll handle them with care!
Step 2: Mail Your Shirts
Once we have chatted, you'll package up and send your clean t-shirts to me. I’ll provide mailing instructions and tips for prepping your shirts (don’t worry — it’s easy!).
Step 3: Design & Layout
No two quilts are the same! I design around the shirts you send, using a layout that works best for the number, size, and placement of your designs. I often use a puzzle-style layout, where blocks vary in size to accommodate larger or smaller graphics — this helps preserve the integrity of each shirt and creates a visually dynamic quilt.
If you prefer a uniform grid layout with all blocks the same size, we can do that too — just let me know your preference!
Step 4: Quilt Creation
Your shirts are pieced together, backed with soft, high-quality fabric, and finished with custom longarm quilting for durability and beauty. I handle everything from start to finish — stitching each piece with love and attention to detail.
Step 5: Delivery
Once your quilt is complete, I’ll carefully package it up and ship it straight to your door — ready to be snuggled, gifted, or cherished for years to come.

Lap Quilt (approx. 48"x48") – 15–20 shirts
Throw (approx. 52"x64") – 18–25 shirts
Twin (approx. 60"x84") – 25–40 shirts
Full (approx. 84"x92"- 35-50 shirts
Queen (approx. 92"x100") – 50-60 shirts
King (approx. 100"x112") – 60-80 shirts
Have more or less? We can work with that — just ask!
Can I include sweatshirts, tank tops, or onesies?
Yes! Sweatshirts, tank tops, onesies or baby clothes, baseball caps can all be used for memory quilts. Just ask if you think something may not work. If I can include it in your special quilt, I will!
How long does it take?
Turnaround time can vary depending on the season and quilt size, but typically ranges from 8-12 weeks. If you have a deadline (like a graduation or birthday), let me know and I’ll do my best to work with your timeline.
Can I choose the backing fabric or colors?
Absolutely. I offer a variety of soft, high-quality backing options in different colors and prints. We’ll discuss your preferences when planning your quilt.
How much does a t-shirt quilt cost?
Pricing depends on the size and complexity of the quilt. I’ll provide a full quote once we chat about your vision! Feel free to contact me for a custom estimate.
Do I need to cut the shirts before I send them?
Nope — please don’t cut anything! Just send clean, uncut shirts and I’ll take care of measuring and trimming each piece to fit your quilt layout.
